To encourage osteopathic medical students, interns, and residents to fully appreciate their new profession, the American Osteopathic Association's (AOA's) Committee on Osteopathic History and Identity has established a history essay competition. The winner of the competition will be recognized at the AOA's annual convention.
Created to support the AOA's Campaign for Osteopathic Unity, the history essay competition is designed to foster career-long loyalty to the osteopathic medical profession and its institutions, Dr Betz notes.
The essay may be on any nontechnical subject related to medicine. The essay must not exceed 15 double-spaced pages of 12-point type with minimum 1-inch margins, exclusive of reference listing. The author’s name and essay title must be on each page, and all pages must be numbered.

For my entry to another essay contest I've read about ten books on the subject previously - not for the essay specifically though. For that one I am about 300 words in and I'm sure the limit is 4000 words which is good as I have barely started For this one am just sorting out my reading list and have my argument plan ready, not much reading done at all yet!
